undersight: Agentic Underwriting.

Grunion built an underwriting loop that pulls bank data, uploaded documents, and agent reasoning into one lender workflow.

The problem

Alternative-finance underwriting slows down when the evidence is scattered. Operators bounce between bank feeds, uploaded statements, internal notes, and rules that live in someone's head. The work takes too long, the audit trail is thin, and good deals stall while risky ones still leak through. The goal was one workflow that made the evidence visible, kept a human approver in the loop, and moved a file from intake to decision without the usual thrash.

The system

undersight's first product, underchat, pulls lender intake, Plaid data, and uploaded documents into one underwriting loop. The agent does not act like a black box. It assembles the evidence, drafts the recommendation, flags open questions, and leaves a readable trail for the operator who makes the final call. The key product decision was to treat speed and evidence quality as the same problem, not two separate ones.

Operational fit

This fits lenders who already know their underwriting logic but are losing time to manual review, scattered evidence, and uneven operator judgment. It is less useful for teams still redefining their credit policy from scratch. The system works best when the rules exist and the bottleneck is execution.
